NMMC to Be Closed January – March 2016  Construction has begun on the Final Phase of the National Museum of the Marine Corps. This section will open in phases over a 4-year period with the first part opening in 2017. As a part of the overall construction, the Museum will be closed January – March 2016 to hang an SBD Dauntless aircraft in Leatherneck Gallery and replace the gallery’s Korean War Sikorsky HRS-2 helicopter exhibit with a tableau depicting a UH-34D helicopter during Operation Starlight in 1965.
