Convention MCL 2015 Note to my Marine Comrades
How does one even begin to say “thank you” to my fellow Marines Of The Year and members of the “League” who bestowed this most prestigious honor to me. Never did I expect this recognition.
I felt so honored last year when I was presented with the Marine Corps League Dept NJ “Lifetime Achievement Award.”
I can only say that through the years since I have been a member I did my best not only for the “League” but in the special position as Dept NJ Chaplain, which I have served for seventeen years since 1997.
Maybe if I presented excerpts from “the “Impossible Dream” that I tried to emulate and follow all my life it would help explain my efforts.
To dream the impossible dream, to fight the unbeatable foe, to bear with unbearable sorrow, to run where the brave dare not go.
To right the unrightable wrong, to try when your arms are too weary, to reach the unreachable star. this has been my quest, to follow that star, no matter how hopeless, no matter how far. To fight for the right, without question or pause, to be willing to march into Hell for a heavenly cause. And I know if I’ll only be true, to this glorious quest, that my heart will lie peaceful and calm when I’m laid to my rest. And the world will be better for this, that I still strove with my last ounce of courage, to reach the unreachable star.
Once again express my thank you to you all for the recognition and respect given me all my years with you.
