Atlantic Cape Community College will host a week-long series of events from September 16–20, 2025, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. This special tribute honors the service and sacrifice of veterans who served during the Vietnam War Era, their families, and those who never returned home.
Held at Atlantic Cape’s Mays Landing campus at 5100 Black Horse Pike, the event is free and open to the public, with programming beginning daily at 12 p.m.
At the heart of the commemoration is the display of the 82-foot Vietnam Memorial Tribute Wall and Cost of Freedom panels, which will be available for viewing throughout the week. These moving exhibits offer a powerful, visual reminder of the sacrifices made by service members during one of the most tumultuous periods in American history.
The event schedule includes:
September 16
-
Arrival of the Vietnam Memorial Tribute Wall, escorted by the American Legion MC Riders and New Jersey State Troopers Caravan.
September 17
-
Veterans Recognition Ceremony featuring the Navy Band Northeast.
-
Special tribute to Alfred Cade, Brigadier General (ret.), honored posthumously.
-
Distribution of tribute pins provided by the U.S. Department of Defense to Vietnam veterans and their families.
September 18
-
Screening of the award-winning Vietnam War documentary, “A Place of Honor”.
-
Tribute ceremony led by retired police and firefighters, followed by a presentation from New Jersey State Troopers.
September 19
-
Tribute by the Gold Star and Blue Star Mothers in honor of POW/MIA service members.
September 20
-
Closing Mass presented by the New Jersey Knights of Columbus at 4 p.m.
This commemorative week is made possible through the support of the Atlantic Cape Foundation and the Atlantic Cape Alumni Association, with generous sponsorship from local organizations including OceanFirst Bank, Caesars Atlantic City, Cooper Levenson Attorneys at Law, and others.
In addition to honoring veterans, the event aims to educate the community—especially younger generations—about the Vietnam War and its enduring impact on American history and military families.
For more information or to make a donation in support of the event, contact Ray Willis at (609) 569-8685 or via email at rayrayrets48@gmail.com. Additional details are available at atlanticcape.edu/foundation.

The 2025 John Basilone Parade will be on Sunday, September 21st at 1 PM.
John Basilone is the only Enlisted Marine:
- To be awarded both The Congressional Medal of Honor and The Navy Cross.
- To return to action after being presented the Medal of Honor and be killed in action.
- To have an annual parade in his honor
There will be a ceremony at Basilone Statue after parade around 2:30 PM.
On parade day groups participating in the parade need to “check in” at the Registration Desk at the Raritan Train Station. The desk opens at 9 AM.
You should arrive by 11am so you can park, register and get to your starting location. The people at the registration desk will point you in the direction of the person that will show you where we are in the parade lineup.
For first timers, reminder Raritan is in Somerset County next to Somerville and Bridgewater. A good GPS address to get to the Raritan Train Station is:
77 Thompson Street Raritan NJ 08869
Remember – the parade is rain or shine.
As for parking for the Basilone Parade, Raritan is a downtown with somewhat crowded side streets.
Those participating in the parade may park at the Raritan Train Station – if parking spots are available. The earlier you arrive, the better chance you have of getting a parking spot at the train station. Other parking is available on the many side-streets in Raritan. In addition, there are two banks on Raritan’s main street – Somerset Street – which have around 16 parking spots each. Those banks are the PNC Bank at 9 West Somerset Street and Somerset Savings Bank at 802 West Somerset Street. There is also parking at LabCorp which is on Johnson Drive – which is off First Avenue. Also, along the river, the southern park of town, there are several small parking lots on Canal Street and Orlando Drive.
